And it’s not a pension for 20 years of service - it’s disability. Two different things.

I guess my first hand knowledge of it would be urban legend then. 2 are elders 1a MS in the hall I was in. The VA sends out annual statements of what was paid and I have seen that statement for one of them.
And it’s not a pension for 20 years of service - it’s disability. Two different things. -

Joanie the Jehovah (sic) Witness Stripper
by Mum inon youtube, type "joanie the jehovah witness stripper" in the search bar.
several versions of the song will appear.
it's hilarious, and, apparently, based on a real life jw who was a neighbor of the song's writer..

If I had to guess I would think AM is getting a disability check from the VA. I know several “brothers” who served in Vietnam who were awarded a 100% disability that equates to $3000-$3500 a month tax free and free healthcare. The VA thought they were all nuts so the disability was for mental impairment, but they functioned normally with no outward disability.

Moral responsibility.
by nicolaou inno subtlety here, it's going to be obvious where i'm going with this.
please consider the following scenario.. you're seated on a railway platform bench waiting for your train.
a high speed intercity is about to hurtle through without stopping when you see a small child running to the platforms edge!

If I am supposed to be in the image of god and he has the ability to intervene and doesn’t (regardless of the reason) - why am I morally responsible to intervene?

Sunday January 15 is my 76th birthday. I answer some of your questions.
by Terry inhappy birthday 2 me!!.
sunday is my 76th birthday and i know that you want to know how it "feels" to have outlived my usefulness, to have lost my natural beauty (being reduced to wrinkles and flab), and constantly walking into a room not knowing why i'm there.
you also are curious as to how i can continue to find a reason to live since none of my kids think my opinions have any possible value, most of my facebooks friends i wouldn't recognize if i tripped over them on my way into starbucks, and my monthly expenditure on bird treats exceeds u.s. spending on the military.

Weight Loss and Insulin Control
by cofty inask most fitness coaches, nutritionists or health professionals and they will tell you that weight control is about calories in versus calories out (cico).
after all, you can’t ignore the laws of thermodynamics!.
the flaw in this simplistic reasoning ought to be obvious; a human body and a steam engine are two different things.. our bodies have evolved complex systems of control and feedback loops in order to maintain a steady interior environment, also known as homeostasis.

Yes!!! This worked for me.I lost 50 lbs and have kept it off for 4 years. I feel so much better - I did Keto - but had vegetables and berries every day. As long as I stay away from bread and sugar I do not have cravings and can maintain my weight even after menopause. I’ve learned to make keto versions of my favorite foods and enjoy experimenting with almond and coconut flour recipes.

why celebrate xmas?
by enoughisenough inmany on here are ex jw....they have left the jws because of coming to find out the many false indoctrinations.
one of the things learned as a jw is that there isn't anything true about xmas being the birth of jesus.
( matt chapter 2 tells a whole different narrative about the baby jesus than what is portrayed by the christian churches) they learn the ways that are celebrated are pagan practices jesus told the samaritan woman that god wanted to be worshipped in spirit and it truth.

I don’t celebrate Christmas as Christ’s birthday. I celebrate secularly because it’s fun to see my nieces/nephews children enjoy all of the fun of the season. I love to see their eyes light up when you are able to get them something they are dreaming of.
I love them all so much - I don’t care what they celebrate. If it’s important to them it’s important to me. If they said they are celebrating Christmas,Hanukkah or The Flying Spaghetti Monster - My answer would be when/where/ and how do we throw this party. For me it doesn’t have to be some big theological debate - it’s fun so I do it.

Struggling to find a purpose
by My Name is of No Consequence ini spent most of my life in the org.
we were taught that our purpose in life was to serve jehovah.
that never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going.

When I first left I tried a little bit of everything. I volunteered at an animal shelter - I found purpose in caring for the animals. I still do work with my local shelters. I tried sports leagues - softball, volleyball, bowling. It got me out and I met many nice people that way. I went to college and love my job.
Eventually I settled in, this life might be all there is - so I try to enjoy every bit that I can. You’ll find your way - in the meantime enjoy the ride.

Poor metabolic health increases your risk for heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
by was a new boy init’s all a big fat lie.
more precisely a big low-fat, high-carbohydrate lie.. 'it took dr. paul marik 12 weeks to prove that conventional wisdom about dieting is a lie, and that was just to himself.
he lost 35 pounds, and cured himself of type 2 diabetes.

I started keto a few years back. I lost a bunch of weight and feel great. I avoid sugars and flour based items most of the time and find it easy to keep the weight off.
All of my blood work looks good - so it’s something that works for me as I am aging. I’ve learned to cook/bake with almond and coconut flour so that I don’t get bored.

In the US once you earn $147,000 (2022) the government stops collecting social security from your wages. So at whatever point in the year my earnings hit that number I don’t contribute another dime to social security until the following January. I don’t know why that surprised me when I finally got to that level of earnings but ….. it did.
